Default Anyone stayed in nusa dua?

I'm thinking of staying in nusa dua due to the hotel choices.. we want a kids pool with slides etc and the ones in kuta area seem run down and too in the party areas.

Usually we stay in seminyak which I love because u just walk to shops and restaurants etc and not too expensive.

Is nusa dua more expensive? Like spas and eating out etc? Is there much to walk around to.. shops like in kuta?

We've stayed at the Westin. It's amazing for kids, pools great, huge gardens. Only the ground floor rooms in the older wing have outdoor areas, the upstairs rooms don't have balconies. The new premier wing all has balconies.
Hyatt and Conrad are supposed to be good for families too
Nusa Dua is not at all like Legian/Seminyak. It's a gated hotel complex. You can't just walk out in the street to markets & restaurants.
The beach is a tidal lagoon - great when tide is in, bit of a swamp when tide is out.
Lovely footpath all along the beach for walks. Some restaurants along this footpath.
There is the Bali collection shopping centre in walking distance, not markets but has shops/restaurants. Bit of a tourist trap really. Bali
Collection have a courtesy bus going to all the resorts, can get crowded.
If you get a good deal including some meals it's great family holiday. Otherwise you are paying resort prices for meals & gets expensive.
The spa is soooo good, but expensive. You would have to travel outside nusa Dua for a cheap massage.
We would go back with small children as we would be planning on mainly staying in the resort for swimming etc.
This year though we are looking at Sanur - seems to be the best of both worlds: bit quieter than the main tourist areas but not as sterile as nusa Dua. We are looking at the Prama which has amazing pools.

Thanks heaps for your reply. I'm so torn because I would love the hotels and beach there but that's probably it. I don't want to become bored when there is not much else to walk around and do.. eat cheaper etc. Hmm . Will check out sanur and see what that brings up too thanks!
