    Default Thyroid TSH level high?

    Hi everyone,
I got the results from my blood work up back today and the only issue raised were my TSH levels. The recommended levels are up to 2.5 and my result was 4.5. The doctor has recommended I get an early scan at 8 weeks, but thats 2.5 weeks away and Im concerned that the levels may have increased since i had the blood taken 5 days ago. Does anyone have experience or insight into this?

Hi! I have a v similar issue - I also had elevated TSH at my bloods taken early in pregnancy (similar to your level) but, I wasn't told about it until this week - I'm 19 weeks now - so I didn't know to worry about it! I have had the 12 week scan and everything looked fine but my ob has asked me to redo bloods at 20 weeks and also to measure free t4 levels. I'm sorry I can't give you more info - only to say my dr isn't really worried and so far everything with the baby has been completely normal. I'm also following your post to see what other people have experienced with this. All the best (and try not to worry) - your dr sounds much more onto it than mine was!

Thanks so much! You put me at ease a little! I have since read a few different articles that say whilst 0.40-2.5 is the healthy range there isn't any adverse affects until you reach 4.8. I am changing GP's so Im going to ask for another lot of bloods to be done to see if its lowering or growing, I don't feel comfortable waiting 3 months for another round of bloods, which is what my current doctor said.
