See how real people are feeling, helpless, unheard, vulnerable and afraid.

Disgusting to see some people think this is coming from anywhere else than pure fear!
    Yes I'm serious.

I'm not disputing the fact that these is a real problem in some areas.
But to tell people that they will get hit on the head with a hammer anywhere in Australia is fear mongering.

I did say MAY/could happen to you which implies uncertainty. I never said it will.
I also never said anywhere in Australia, i said Melbourne. The other cities in Australia are currently not as affected.

Not all suburbs of Melbourne are affected but the map posted clearly shows an increase in home invasions across most of Melbourne.. and some suburbs show doubled rates.
So i would say my comment is based on factual information posted in that particular article.

If a problem escalates, its a fair assumption to make that it MAY impact on other people who live in currently unaffected suburbs. Its also a fair assumption to make if crime rates keep doubling each year the way they currently are.

Im sure if someone once told this malvern man that it could happen to him one day, hed call it fear mongering too.

If someone told me 10 years ago that thugs would be breaking into certain suburbs of Melbourne with weapons.. and hitting people in the head, id call them crazy.

And i stand corrected, not a hammer.. but still pretty painful.

The point of my post is that these thugs dont just commit theft they hurt people and most of those people probably thought it would never happen to them. The idea is to spread awareness to people that this could potentially blow up if action isnt taken.

And for the record, i live in the Eastern suburbs of Melbourne. Although my suburb hasnt been hit the near by suburbs have been.. and my fear level has legitimately gone up as a result of these attacks. We installed an alarm system a few weeks ago and roller shutters on our front window and a couple of people in my street have had their cars broken into so they have installed cameras. When something affects how you live your every day life it becomes a problem.

Yes and IMO that's the result of fear mongering.

    We'll agree to disagree.

Well maybe you go about your business and leave this to the people who have genuine fear and concerns because it's THOSE people who will make sure the government does the right thing by ALL Australians here.

There's no room for PC when you're dealing with this,PC **** is what has let it fester!

I agree. We are being bound and gagged by do gooders and PC pundits.
I have a friend in media and they tell me that there's a "no publish" rule on the attacks that are happening in Victoria as Police feel it will create wild panic.

No, what it will do is galvanise those who truly care about this country and we'll have another Cronulla riot.

And for every person that says oh Cronulla riots were bad, there are 50 more who say, well, there's been no further trouble has there?

    Food for action.

I won't mention the area of Adelaide presently being affected but for the past three or so years there's been a MASSIVE problem with groups of young men from African nations who have been eliciting violence in and around about five key suburbs. It's not reported because, yet again, those who are close to media don't want "a wild panic" or people to be vilified.

Which is rubbish. They don't have the ability to stop this little crimewave because the people involved trigger the public button - refugee, minority group, disadvantaged - get a slap on the wrist when they are charged and subsequently released back into the community...with bragging rights.

The only reason they no longer target a well known bus depot is because they were targeted by a group of men who were fed up with their antics. And that won't get reported either because most of these men, despite being fed up nearby residents, were white.

And white on black in this country never looks good.
