I saw this when it was on TV.. it infuriated me.
They do this coz its just something to do, to get money.

They talk about giving them employment.. the kids robbing houses should be in school. This is why they get bail quickly, theyre under age.

I would make it part of their consequence regardless if its their first time getting caught, extensive hours of community service, cleaning up graffiti and collecting rubbish across Melbourne and if they refuse, jail time regardless of age with no bail.

    Here is a good article.

All the bits of Melbourne that arent blue have an increased number of home invasions. So for example Carlton has had 48 home invasions in 2016.. which is double from 2015. Brunswick has had 50 home invasions in 2016. In 2012 only 23.

Its not a problem that its happening, all over the world people get homes broken into.. the problem is that it was never happening at this rate in Melbourne and its doubling each year and slowly spreading all over the state.

If you live in Melbourne it should terrify you because in 5 years time if things dont change your suburb could be hit weekly... and if you live in an apartment, someone could hit you with a hammer over your head in order to take your car one day.

We have worked hard to keep this country safe.. just because it happens in other big cities doesnt make this change OK.
    Fear mongering much?

See how real people are feeling, helpless, unheard, vulnerable and afraid.

Disgusting to see some people think this is coming from anywhere else than pure fear!

I live in one of the areas that's getting targeted at the moment. An invasion last month a girl home alone was terrorised and stole her car. Not even security cameras are a deterrent anymore. I am worried but we've also done everything in our power to stay alert.
Things have to change. I cannot believe the government won't do anything.

Why won't the government do anything @Juventina?

I read the initial post and although I'm on the other side of the country this freaks me out.
