Default Pants! For skinny and/or tall kids!

So its the time of year where I need to get DS some new pants for winter.

He is 4 next week. He wore size 2 skinny jeans to a wedding in December. The waist and bum area were too big but the length of the pants ended above his ankle.

So for those with skinny kids/long legged kids please give me some ideas on where to buy them. I would prefer that it is something he can try on rather than going online.

I know many pants come with the elastic waist thing to change the size but the pants look so baggy and there is always so much bunching of material at the waist it becomes uncomfortable for DS.

Also are 'girls' pants the same waist/bum size as boys?

I have the same issue with ds who nearly 10 and 160cms tall already and not far off sz9 men's shoes!

I buy the adjustable waist only and have bought some girls pants in the waist and be hadnt even noticed at all. Girls have a bit of a hip but not much.

You always try skinny leg and see how that goes but it is more restrictive

I bought at pumpkin patch until they closed but I've also stocked up as much as possible even for DS2 who is only 8months old

If your good at showing you can also see the seams in around the hit area to bring the material in. My mum has also done this and it worked for me

My DS (6) is very lean and has the same problem.

I just have to get the pants/jeans with adjustable waists. There is bunching of the material, but they're still wearable and DS has never complained.

Usually we just buy from Kmart/Target/Big W. The last pair of jeans we got him were from Big W.

My kids (4.5 and nearly 2) are both skinny around the waist. I find leggings fit best for both of them - they tend to be skinnier and stretch. For warmer clothes, it's hard though.

When DD was younger, we had some track pants from Big W that fit really well. It's hit and miss though, we really had to go into shops and try things on.these days she refuses to wear anything but dresses, so leggings + dress + boots is her warm clothing.

Not sure what I'll do for DS for winter yet. We have a whole heap of clothes from DD and that we've been given, but I think most won't fit him properly anyway.

My DD is tall too, and I find Best & Less to be the best fit. They're just that extra bit longer!
