    Default Pregnant and Working FIFO

Hi, I am 44 and have just found out that I'm pregnant for the first time. I also work fifo on a 2/1 roster. My DH and I are surprised I fell pregnant so quickly so it's caught us a bit by surprise. We weren't expecting this to happen until probably more around mid year. I am very newly pregnant, only a few weeks but I'm already freaking out about how we're going to afford living on one wage. Our plan was for me to stay in my job until the end of the year to have all our debts paid off. My due date is Nov 7. I'm not sure how long I'll be able to do fifo for or how my company will take the news as the timing of our pregnancy is unexpected. This is my first time on a forum and I'm not sure what to do. Please any advice is welcome.

Congrats! I was pregnant and did FIfO and it was fine. I stopped at about 32 weeks and worked in the head office in the city. Once you hit 12 weeks (or whenever you are comfortable) let the company know as you might need to change some of your duties/responsibilities etc to make them more suitable.

As long as you don't exceed the flight numbers recommended (for radiation during in flight transit) you should be fine until much later in the pregnancy. I've travelled for work quite a bit until 3rd trimester but cut back on a lot of flights due to radiation levels
