    Default Hemorrhoids **tmi warning**

Ok this is a bit embarrassing

During my pregnancy with dd5, I developed hemorrhoids. She is 8.5 months old now and the external ones have settled (although do flair up sometimes). However they are causing me a bit of grief. Occasionally I find it really hard to pass a bowel motion and when I do it's really painful and I bleed. Normally it's just a smear of bright red blood and that's it. Today though I went and when I wiped it was like I had a heavy period and there was a small clot looking thing (I don't have my period and I definitely know it came from my bum). It took a few wipes for the blood to stop and now it's really sore and itchy.

Is this normal for hemorrhoids or is it something I need to see my dr about? I've never had to deal with it before so not sure what's normal or when to worry?

I'd go to the dr. Not sure if you can use the cream for internal though.

Could it be a small tear? It could just be reopening with bowel movement?

I would still advise heading to the dr.

Definitely get it checked out. I had a similar experience, had a colonoscopy and it turned out to be polyps.

Agree you should see the doctor.
Likely it's just the hemi or could be a fissure.
Last year I had to suck it up and go to the doctor after struggling with a hemi for a long time (thanks kids!)
Turned out it wasn't anything scary.
If it's found to be a hemi then I recommend Dr Wheatgrass cream.

I hope it's something easily dealt with. It's such a horrible thing to deal with

Any bleeding from your backside is worth getting checked out. While colonoscopies aren't pleasant, they are a necessary evil some times! You can get the Soov brand haemorrhoid cream though which comes with an applicator for internal haemorrhoids. Also increase the amount of soluble fibre in your diet and make sure you're drinking plenty of water. Constipation can exacerbate them and make it worse, e.g. When you're passing a solid stool, you can scrape the top off the haemorrhoid and cause the pain and bleeding.

Just a thought, if you are bleeding every time you go to the toilet, I would strongly suggest getting your hands on some Movicol or Osmalax and take some every day until you get in to see the doctor. Both are very gentle and work by drawing additional water into the bowel. If you have a fissure or haemorrhoids taking something to soften stools may assist in your recovery.
