Default 12 wk scan - enlarged bladder and bubble in cord. Waiting for CVS result.

    Hello ladies..

I am 13 wk pregnant today. I had my 12 wk scan last week and found baby's size of 6 c.m. Heartbeat 160 with good movements, NT was normal as well. I was very happy till I found some odds like very enlarged bladder around 15mm, bubble in cord and small skin hanging outside baby's body.

Immediately my case got referred to specialist in big hospital. Yesterday I had appointment at MFM services and they did another ultra sound and asked me to do CVS (Chorionic villus sampling)test. As per doctors if there was just one of these things then they are curable, but putting all things together it shows some kind of abnormality. Now I have to wait for 10 to 15 days for results of CVS.

Doctors told me not to think anything till results and keep normal life as before. But its very hard.

Please ladies.. if anyone had similar experience please share your experience. It will really help me in this difficult time.

    Hi. Firstly hugs.

With DS we had an exomphalus of bowel (from memory) at the cord. Not sure if that is the same as you though?

This was discovered during the 12 week scan. Everything else was normal though.

We had a very high chance of T13/T18 (from memory it was 1:2 and 1:5).

Looking back I was in denial at the time. Our options were CVS immediately or we could wait and have a scan at 16 weeks. If not resolved at 16 weeks we would have an amnio.

We decided to wait until 16 weeks. I was not going to terminate and there was less chance of MC with amnio than CVS.

At our 16 week scan it had resolved - we decided not to do amnio and he was born healthy.

I was in tears for at least a week. I could not work. We also did not announce the pregnancy for another week or so.

My story is different to yours however I can relate to the experience of waiting for a diagnosis.

We had some major abnormalities detected on 20 week scan and what followed was a horrible 4 weeks of scans, amniocentesis, specialist appointments.

Regardless of gestation I'm guessing you are feeling all the things we did. It was so difficult. The second guessing, uncertainty and anxiety were overwhelming. It is incredibly nerve racking. Take a notebook and pen to your appointments and jot things down so you don't forget. Also write down any questions you can thing off.

I took time off work because I just couldn't function well enough to feel I was doing my job properly.

Sadly my story did not end well. I truly hope you have the best possible outcome.

Thanks @mummymaybe . Its so hard to wait for 2 wks to get CVS result. Mostly feeling positive but sometimes its too hard.

Specially this is very precious pregnancy with last embryo left. It was my third frozen cycle and no embryo left now...

I m praying every day to God, to help my little one to survive and come in our life and this beautiful world. I am having all good motherly feeling, my tummy has started to show and its getting hard to hide from friends and colleagues. But want to make sure before doing big announcement.
