    Default Update

    Bloods came back bhcg 200.

Dr cant believe her eyes and sent an urgent referral to gyne at the hospital.

Ultrasound found a 10mm shadow near my left ovary so suspected ectopic. Need to repeat blood tests every 2 days and another ultrasound next week.

So scary and odd that the hcg went down to zero and then back up a week later. Unheard of. Plus the fact I've carried it to 9 weeks. Has anyone ever had something similar or know how its possible?

I just googled how big an embryo is at 9 weeks and it's 2.5 cm. So more than double the size of what was found on your ultrasound. Not sure if that means it's a new pregnancy? Or do ectopic pregnancies not develop as fast (I'm def not an expert on this topic). I hope everything works out for you.

Ovarian cysts can apparently give false positive pregnancy tests according to google. Could that be what you're describing ?
    I found this information
    Ovarian Cysts
Corpus luteum cysts on the ovaries can cause false positives on pregnancy tests. The corpus luteum remains on the ovary after the egg is released. With time, it disintegrates and the cycle is repeated. If the corpus luteum fills with blood or fluid, it becomes a cyst and remains on the ovary. The corpus luteum produces HCG, and can therefore interfere with the accuracy of a pregnancy test.

I'd still say it was a new pregnancy, not the original one.

HCG of 200 would not be representative of a 9 week pregnancy

Low HCG that dips up and down can be a symptom of an ectopic pregnancy. There are other medical conditions that can also cause HCG to be produced, which your GP will investigate once pregnancy is 100% ruled out.

I had a very slow growing uterine pregnancy, my levels did always go up albeit very slowly and nothing was visible on an ultrasound until 8 weeks (a sac measuring less than 5 weeks). I had a lot of bleeding from CD32 onwards as well and was told by an early ultrasound that I had miscarried. I did miscarry at 9 weeks as obviously something was wrong with bub's development and until something was found in my uterus I was on alert for it being ectopic.

So there is a chance it is the original pregnancy, which is not developing at the typical rate and is either an ovarian ectopic (hence the shadow there) or uterine pregnancy and still too small to see. It sounds like you are being well looked after by your Dr. but if you start to have any lower abdominal pains or shoulder pain, head straight to the ED and let them know about your suspected ovarian ectopic.

Saturday bloods were 120 then Sunday 83 then Tuesday 87. Was admitted to hospital in severe pain on sunday which i had hectic intravenous pain killers for (was on cloud 9 lol) they did another ultrasound still cant find anything they suspect either ectopic and not visible or its implanted outside my uterus. Will be 10 weeks tomorrow. Still repeating bloods every 2 days. 😣😣😣
