My 4 year old went through a stage of calling me by my first name. I refused to respond unless she called me mum or mummy, so mum it is. This was when she was about 2.5!

I remember being about 6 though, and noticing all the other kids calling their mothers 'mum'. I was too embarrassed to tell my mum that I wanted to change what I called her, so I kept calling her mummy...until I was an adult.

I think it's part laziness lol.

It used to be every now and again but I noticed since yesterday she's been saying mum consistently. I have corrected her a few times- I'm still her mummy! Always will be!
I'm not ready to let this go. I feel quite strongly about this as we were never allowed to call our mum "mummy" (wasn't a loving mother) and I remember once when I was 6/7 and I was asking for something and used "mummy" and she slapped me for being a baby

Even worse is that it sounds like "mom" from all the you tube stuff she watches
    4??? ❤️

Correct her every time and get your DH to say Mummy too if he doesn't already. Hopefully she will go back to Mummy.

And hugs for your cr@ppy mum. Mine isn't loving either, but she never hit me at least.
