    I agree with it.
I don't see why anyone could disagree, just opt out if it's not suiting your beliefs.
So much more beneficial to the community.

I am on the Donor Register, yes.

I do not give blood- I went with a friend who was turned away as he is gay, so I left too.

I tried donating blood while in Ireland but wasn't suitable at the time.

I would do it again here as soon as I finish breastfeeding but after reading a comment here I'm unsure if it's worth the bother?
    I have a tattoo.

It's over 20 yrs old and I have had regular blood screening since getting it.
    I'm clean as a whistle.

What is the risk when you have a tattoo?

As for organ donation, both DH and myself know the score but we should probably registered as well.

You have to wait a certain period of time after getting a tattoo. I can't remember exactly how long, but it's under a year.

In regards to tattoos....there is just a waiting period from when you had it. It is 4months.

I struggle with that even if I haven't donated an egg to create them

Are you sure it was because he was gay? I'm sure the questions are along the lines of "have you had unprotected male-to-male anal $ex in the last X years?" Perhaps if he answered yes to that, that's what ruled him out.
