    Default Dating scan and viability

Hi! I'm pregnant for the first time and would love to know if anyone has been in a similar situation. A little complicated but here we go...

At a very rough guess I thought LMP was 7/12. My husband thought it was a week later but we were moving house around that time so we genuinely can't remember as we weren't tracking it then. We tried on 27/12 and 31/12, thinking we may have missed the boat for ovulation that month. HPT was positive on 14/1 saying 1-2 weeks since conception. Dating scan today (GP presumed 7 weeks) showed a sac with a yolk but no HB and the US technician said she sized it at 5-5.5 weeks. Another HPT today said 3+ weeks since conception. Bloods one week ago showed levels of 422, consistent with 4-5 weeks gestation.

So far it's all adding up to us getting the LMP date wrong and us conceiving around 31/12. I've had another blood test and have another scan booked for next week to be sure (whether misdated or not progressed), but has anyone else been in a similar situation? Is this a common thing?

We're both very nervous about the whole thing.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

LMP is not exact science by any means. My cycles were a bit all over the place when I conceived DD so LMP actually put me out almost an entire week than all the scans. I had some pretty strong arguments with my Doctor over that as it changed my Due date and by default, pushed back the date at which they would induce to a point where I felt it would be unsafe. The scans all match up with when you DTD so I wouldn't really worry about LMP.

I have just been through similar. LMP was 26/10. Got first positive on 29/11 Went for a dating scan on 5/12 and nothing to see and was told nothing was progressing and I would bleed or way too early and come back in 2 weeks. I waited until 22/12 and saw sac with heartbeat of 140, and was told I was 6 weeks 2 days and due 15/8. I am now just over 11 weeks. This is my 3rd pregnancy, with my DD (preg #2) I was about 2 weeks out as well.

I know it's hard but the best thing is to keep busy and just roll with it while you wait till your next scan! All the best X

This happened to me with my 3rd pregnancy.
My cycles were weird with break through bleeding at the time. I went from my the last period date and thought I was 8wks when I had bright red bleeding and went for a scan. It turned out that I was only 5wk 4d and there was only the same as what you have seen.
I was told to wait 2 weeks and come back to see if the pregnancy was viable.
Two weeks later there was my girl who is now 10 years old. It was hard to wait but I started having a lot of pregnancy symptoms in that time. Years later I realised what had happened with my cycle because it happened again.

But this also happened to my cousin last year.
She was meant to be 7 weeks along and started to bleed. She knew her dates for sure so was expecting to see a baby but she ended up having a blighted ovum. Her hcg levels were low though and continued to drop.

Hopefully all is well and you will see your little one at the next scan. It sounds as if you may have ovulated late.
Waiting is hard but try not to over think things because it's impossible to guess which way things will go.

I had my scan yesterday and everything is fine! I'm just not as far along as they thought- exactly what you were all saying 😊 I'm only 5w 5d but we saw a heartbeat and she said it was where it needed to be at 120bpm. We're extremely relieved!! All signs were good leading up to it- my blood tests came back with my levels increasing from around 420 to 11000, I'm completely exhausted and my boobs are sore and bigger so everything's looking good!

Thanks again, everyone's responses really helped to keep me calm over the past week 😊
