Hi, In South Africa you choose your own donor from a profile that includes baby / childhood photos, the donor writes a few paragraphs about what they are like, you get family medical history, their personal medical history, family history etc. I am pretty sure all the clinics in Greece choose the donor for you and you see no photos, you get a vague description on looks. Some people like not having to make all those decisions and some like to have more control. In SA you can ask the clinic or agency for a full breakdown on how a donors previous cycles went etc. A full cycle in SA inc. meds, flights/accommodation (pretty much everything except for spending money) cost us $15k AUD for the 12 day trip in Sept going back for a FET costs about $4k inc. flights / accommodation for 5 days in May... going at quieter times means cheaper flights/accommodation.
    Hope that helps

@Heyside it might be worth having a read about how embryos go in gel after day 6. I think most evidence suggests that they do pretty poorly because they need more than the culture can offer. I'll try and find something.

Thanks at @mummymaybe will look at that info later tonight its nice to be informed. I think Charlotte was thinking if my embies don't make it to blast until Sunday then in reality they are equivalent to day 5 on Sunday therefore equivalent to day 6 on Monday (not sure if I have made that clear).

@Heyside hang in there... not other choice than waiting and see what happens on Sat.
I know how you feel, I was in the exact same position a couple of weeks ago. Only I had 2 bad-looking ones.

The wait is a killer, try to keep busy and stay positive. I know I am for you xxx

@Power child is your bro expexting to ? Did i just read that right. So happy your bub is going well. Be gone sch be gone.
Afm i just heard back from dr my bad reaction yesterday was first sugar test 3.4 post fasting from night before. So pretty normal for me actually. 1hr post drink my bgl 5.2. 2 hrs post drink bgl 1.5 yep i had a hypoglycemic episode so just letting you ladies know in advance to be careful... i am not a diabetic and dont usually eat heaps of sugar but im certainly no saint. So my reaction yesterday was unexpected for me personally. Lucky i mangaged to get half a bucket of hot chips into me before i fell asleep in the car waiting for hubby to pick me up otherwise probably would of been alot worse. So glad he told me not to drive. On the upside i feel ok today and i get to still eat the odd tim tam woo hoo.

@infinity888 I haven't done GDT yet. I'm scared now. Haha. I'll wait till I've seen hospital next week.
So yes my older brother's wife is 8 weeks fc
I'm a REALLY older first time mum so this is great news to have a cousin in the same age group.

Thanks @LillyM you are so right I need to stop stressing I have no control over this. Sorry you went through the same thing, did you put the two 'bad looking' ones back on the Saturday?
@Power child - Fantastic news on your scan, so your brother is expecting too? How amazing for your little ones to grow up closely together xx

Great news that you don't have the GD @infinity888, sounds like a pretty bad hypo though watch out for that in the future though x

Woah, this thread is taking off again!

    @minimeadesmummy Welcome

@infinity888 well I have no man so glueing it shut doesn't bother me. But I was planning on glueing higher up so people could still do the rumpy pumpy. Yes, we can be millionaires!

Sorry to hear about your GD test. I was going to say I felt exactly the same way before I was diagnosed with type 2, having those awful attacks where I would think I was going to faint and have chills. Apparently type 2 doesn't give you those lows, but testing when they happened showed that I was getting them. Glad that you are all clear, and tim tams are a go go!

Oh also, after my test I had a massive reaction to the sugar drink and broke out in a welty rash that lasted days. It was so bad I couldn't wear clothes. Luckily it was only my upper arms and legs. I was not looking forward to the GD test in pregnancy.

@Wild Rose that sounds icky... the term lady lipstick is giving me giggling fits and also creepy chills at the same time.

@gorgeousgeorge love the dream catcher! Maybe we can have some made for Medicare?

Congrats on being PUPO! I know how you feel about the sneaky... I nearly made it through but had to come clean due to freak out. Friday is the day... it's killing me already!
@Spazzyp That's all three of us and someone random celebrating our BFP's next week!

@LillyM I know that talk I can't help with the donor eggs as I didn't go there yet, but I was planning to put my name on the wait list at my clinic (which is 2-3 years). Maybe I should have already. If you want, I can message you the supplements I added after the talk, that lead to my pregnancy. Although I lost them, they were the most perfect babies, so something good must've boosted my eggs...

@Heyside good luck for your transfer, and some lovely frozen ones...

@Power child congrats all is looking well. And how fantastic that your little one will have a cousin close in age. I had worried about that as my nieces are 9 and 4 this year, but luckily my brother and his wife are having a third, due just before I was. So that would've been nice...
