    Default Chipmunk voice after tonsillectomy/adenoids

My 5yr old had his surgery tonsillectomy/adenoids/grommets on Friday and now has this squeaky high pitched chipmunk voice. I was expecting croaky/raspy so it's taken me by surprise. Have others had the same and did it resolve fairly quickly after the healing process?

Hope the surgery went well for your LO! DD3 had a squeaky voice for a good 2 weeks after the surgery, it resolved itself though. Our ENT said it could take up to 6 weeks to settle.

My daughter had hers out dec last year, it took a few weeks for her voice to go back to normal. From what I read it's pretty normal, I would assume it hurts less to talk in a higher pitch than normal lower tones

Thanks. Good to know it's normal. He's recovery is going really well. Day6 post surgery today and no real issues. Pain meds around the clock seem to be working, he's got the smelly breath now so healing must be happening
