The whole situation is sad. Damned if you do something, damned if you don't. There are never winners in war

Bill Clinton stated years ago that the biggest regret of his presidency was that he didn't stop the Rwandan genocide.

We can't just sit back and let this go. I don't want another war, but what do you do when innocent children are being gassed to death?

Can we just stand by and not get involved? How else do we fix the mess that we helped to create?

Mum and I are both anti Trump but both feel that his actions today were the right ones.

I would agree IF he also said that America would accept Syrian refugees. As his actions would have consequences for the people in Syria.

I'm not sure what I think. Yes, I think something needs to be done about the situation in Syria, but I'm just not sure that 59 bombs is the way to go. Especially if it pi$$es off Russia and makes a bad situation worse.

I dunno. I've been reading far too much on it today.
There are a lot of conspiracy theories out there about the timing and also what the Syrian government would gain from commuting such an atrocity.

I'm just sad, confused and feeling a deep sense of gloom about the whole thing.

Default Donald Trump / American Politics (renamed)

I also struggle to trust any politician, any side of the conflict, or any justifications given why it is the right response.

Eta: I'm not disputing the gas attack happened. I'm just not sure who did what and why bombing Syria will solve anything. I mean look at the ****fight that is Iraq.

And just whilst I'm on a rant.

Sometimes I think the human race as a whole is a weed or pest.
I think humans are inherently greedy, selfish and lazy and it would be better if we didn't exist. Obviously this goes against every fibre of my being, I mean I *think* overall I'm a good person and same with my family and friends. But when I witness the destruction we cause on our own species, our offspring, and the destruction of our environment ...... and to be brutally frank my general apathy as long as my loved ones and I are ok.... it really makes me think that humans as a whole are an awful species.
I think that's why artificial intelligence scares me so much as they will recognise this fact.

Anyhoo, too many wines and far far too depressing. I will go back to my comfy bed and feel slightly guilty and worried about what's happening in the wider world and my life will go on as normal for now 😐

I wholeheartedly condemn the use of chemical weapons and the Syrian government for using them (if that turns out to be proven correct) however I can't see how America bombing Syria is going to make an awful situation any better. And I don't believe for a second that Trump gives a $hit about those innocent Syrian victims.

Sometimes I wonder how long it will take for humankind to realize that war and violence are never a solution.
