    I'm against smacking babies (and children). My daughter has bitten a few times while playing. I say "ouch, that hurts me!" And put her down, and move away from her. It makes her really upset.

    I then talk to her about it. "It makes me sad when you bite me. You need to be gentle with me thank you". We then have a cuddle.

    Not only would a 10 month old not understand being 'disciplined'. Smacking makes no sense, it's not okay for her to hurt someone, but it's okay for you to hurt someone. Wrong message to be sending.

    "no" "no biting" would be sufficient.

    Are you doing the right thing? IMO smacking a 10 month old is not ok. Detach and say "ow" or "don't bite Mummy".
