You have gotten your answer over the course of an entire thread.

This is what it means to be Australian.

It's the echo of that sentiment all over the net that I'm trying to alert you to, you think it's not happening but it is.

And here it is on bubhub. And yes I'm aware it's happening to all races but it's recognised and it's not tolerated.HOW on earth is it being tolerated against whites???

    Those double standards again.

Because "whites" are the only people that statement is applicable to.

White Christian people have everything handed to them on a silver platter. Only when they're asked to share what they have suddenly they're being oppressed and discriminated against. This is not discrimination. It is not racism. It is statement of fact.

I'd still like you to clarify what "share" means.

We paid over 20K in visa fees to be here.
I've given Australia 3 new citizens, my DH works his **** off to support us and we don't get any handouts.

What part of that should I share?
What part of that was handed to me and what part do you feel is up for grabs??

Maybe go through history a little.

Who has been discriminated against? Remind me of a time where 'white' people truly had it worse in Australia than anyone else?

@Phony a lot of your comments remind me of my ex. We started off kind of politically aligned, and then he started having some conversations that in hindsight I dismissed. They were about his experiences at work (which were totally different to my work environment), and beginning to feel like a minority. Not being able to understand because everyone around him was speaking a foreign language.

It's easy to say that 'well hello, that's what it's been like for immigrants forever!', and I think I probably did say that. The problem was I didn't hear the fear that he was expressing, that many of the people of USA are expressing in their election of Voldemort as president. I get what you're saying - we ignore these voices at our peril. And I agree with you on that. We are in a time of massive turbulence and social change and it's scary.

But I think it's still true that most of the time a white person is in a more privileged position in this country, and this carry on about billboards and advertising is a saddening diversion from some really important social issues.

So your 20k and 3 citizen ships means that two little kids can't be on a banner because they don't represent you, does it?

If you care to you can read back and see I never said that.

    You're still avoiding my question.

Yes they are, but we must be careful in this change that we are living though, that we do it right and don't just swap one group for another.
    That's all I'm saying.

I'm going to try and answer the OP.

Being Australian means giving everyone a chance, helping others when they are down e.g after the bush fires, floods etc

I don't celebrate Australia Day as I don't agree with the date and I don't like being surrounded by drunk people. We stay home swim in the pool and maybe have a BBQ. I think that Federation Day (1st Jan, 1901) would be a better date.

I don't 'celebrate' ANZAC day, although I have taken my DDs to the past 2 local dawn services at their request. My DP is from a non-Caucasian background and the looks we get make the time there extremely uncomfortable.

Our national anthem no longer applies, even my DD12 says it should be changed. I don't have feelings either way about our flag, people burning it doesn't worry me either. I see it as a form of protest and whatever really. I do respect and understand why those older (and some younger) get so upset about flag burning, but I just don't feel it.

I don't feel 'Australian', especially the older I have gotten, as a young child and teenager we always celebrated Australia Day so don't really know why. Given the amount of older Australians who talk about 'young people today' I'm sure I don't fit their view of an 'Australian' woman.
