    Default Changing Baby's Name

I desperately want to change DD2s name but hubby won't agree.

DD2 is Amelia & we knew it was popular but as the story goes, it was one of the only girls names we agreed on.

DD2 is 10m now & the name just isn't working out for me. It's everywhere & it's bothering me in a way I didn't expect.

Milly is the ideal nickname but our dog is Molly so we tend not to use it.

DH doesn't want to change it as he thinks what's done is done. But I REALLY don't think it's working out. I don't even think it suits her, even though I did in hospital. And if we did change it, now would be the best time, rather than being a bit older & having more understanding of her name.

    What would you do?

    Has anyone done this?

Does she have a middle name you can use instead? Whether it just be calling her by that or changing it to that officially. What were you thinking of changing it to? I *think* there are more restrictions about changing first names of kids after 1 year old so if you do it you might need to do it soon.

I haven't done it but I regretted my daughters name for a long time!! Now I don't she totally suits it and I am so glad I didn't change it!!

If hubby isn't willing could you come up with a nick name other than milly, Lia, Eli something that might help compromise ?

Our friends changed their DS name at 11 months and the change hasn't caused any issues and they are really happy they changed it.

I didn't know this but just googled & you're right! Thank you, might be a bargaining tool with DH.

I've been trying to for 10m, I thought something would surface that just 'works' but no real luck.

I love the name Amelia... I have never ever met anyone with this name - though I have found you do start to see it everywhere when it's your own!

Amy is another possible nickname for you... Or perhaps a very slight change to a name like Amelie may make all the difference and be a better fit for your DD?

I'm still getting used to my DD name too (now 16mo) and the thought to change it has crossed my mind but it was the name both DH and I loved and I'm hopeful she will grow into it in time.

Best of luck let us know what you decide!
