Default *trigger warning* Kayla Boyd miscarriage & termination

This may cause issues but I'm genuinely interested in people's opinions on this story. I am currently pregnant after stillbirth early last year. It is hugely stressful and emotional however we wanted this baby and have found professional support to help us manage.

I am pro choice and wont judge her although it is not something I could have done.

I have had a mc and struggled with infertility so understand the fear she had.

Sadly people are going to judge her and call her selfish.

I read this the other day.

My opinion is her body her choice. It is also their family and their choice.

I do not judge them for this. Everyone copes differently.

To cut a long story short this is worse than Judd and Finchy combined. Publicly posts half nude photos, writes a public blog on what she damn well knew would be a sensitive topic and then cries fowl when she received negative feedback. If you can't stand the heat don't put yourself in the kitchen.

As for the termination - those that have been around for a while know my views in this. That being said I acknowledge there's a whole spectrum of reasons why women elect for non medically necessary termination. I consider this case to be scraping towards the bottom end of the ethical/moral barrel.

I think I agree with you for once @VicPark . I and prochoice but also think that if you are not emotionally ready to handle another pregnancy you should use birth control or abstain (maybe it failed).

I think that a woman's personal story regarding her reasons for abortion shouldn't be up for discussion. I feel sorry for her that she has chosen to share her story and will now have to deal with the backlash of that (I don't know what her motivation was for sharing, but I imagine she will really come to regret her decision to share and that saddens me).

I found this while article just strange. Ok you had a miscarriage as so many women do. Then you fall pregnant again afraid you will miscary so you have an abortion... What the??

I have nothing against women that want/need to have an abortion and think we at lucky to live in a country where we can but think this reason is a little bit weird. Not to mention writing a blog about it.

If you are that traumatised by the miscarriage use birth control?

Hubby thought the same as you - his first words were "that's strange." He has some other words too regarding her husbands pay packet, however no need for me to repeat that here.

I have read other articles on this. There were multiple reasons for the abortion. One of which she wasnt ready for another child as I understand her first is very young and the strain the pregnancy would place on her marriage

I fully support her and her decision. Its not up to me to decide whether her decision is good enough. If birth control failed for me, I'd be facing a similar decision.

But she didn't just choose to terminate based solely on her miscarriage.

“It’s gobsmacking at how people misinterpret things, I did not get an abortion because I was afraid of miscarrying again, that was not the sole reason that lead me to make that choice, I had about 10 reasons. Importantly, I terminated because it wasn’t the right time in my life to have another child and it was the right decision for me and my family! I’m sincerely sorry that my own personal choices (that don’t affect any single one of you), disgust you, I apologise that it’s so disturbing and I will try to keep my legs closed as told."

I have had a stillbirth. And an abortion. It's important to talk about both issues to remove the stigma. Obviously if she doesn't want another child she should use birth control, and I think that was the point of her story, that she didn't realize until she was pregnant again how wrong it felt for her and her family for a variety of reasons.

Having an abortion is ****ing hard, it's not the 'easy way out' and she obviously wanted to share her story for a reason, whether to help herself or others. Like the other thread, none of us are perfect, we are all trying to make the best decisions for ourselves and family and its really nobody else's place to judge.
