Default Is this is a thing?

So, I was watching my bestie make a salad yesterday, and she slowly and carefully...removed all the strings from the celery!

Wtf? Is this a thing? I have never seen nor heard of such preposterousness before in my life! And you know what was weird? She didn't peel the carrots! Who would remove string but leave skin?!

Have I been living under a rock? What other salad preparation tips should I be thinking about?

Has she got an overbite or underbite?
DH can't break off certain foods with his teeth so when making a burger with all the trimmings I have to chop everything up fine or he can't bite through it and it ends up on his lap.

Haha. I do it. I take off the leaves and yucky bits of stem and take off the big stringy bits before chopping into small pieces.

I don't take the stringy bits off my celery. I also don't peel carrots though. DH was not impressed with my not peeling of carrots but I noticed he doesn't now either

Isn't it you don't make friends with salad!!!?

I peel both! I never used to peel celery, in fact I never ate it because of the stringy bits. Then I saw someone doing it and my life was changed forever!

I don't think it is. @harvs feels very strongly about it. Let's ask her. @harvs ?

Contrary to popular belief, it is you don't *win* friends with salad. If I do nothing else on this earth I will correct this misconception!!

I can't believe celery de-stringing is a thing! Are you destringers cucumber de-seeders as well?!

Also wondering this? I don't eat raw celery so maybe why I haven't noticed!
