You have to find your own placement @MommaChili. The first lot of prac is done in your 3rd teaching period which is in a child care (not school).

A child care? For primary education? Strange... seems to me that placement should fall under Early childhood education not primary education lol
Do you get to choose what age group within the childcare?

Yes, a guy I met on the course and myself both organised schools only to be told we had to do the first one in a child care with children aged 2-5. My course was Bachelor of Education (Primary).

That's super weird to make you do a placement in childcare?? Early childhood is it's own degree? At my uni you do k-6 bc it's a primary degree. They like you to experience different stages but within primary.

Is this Swinburne? I would consider that a wasted placement. To begin with, there is not true curriculum based programming until the first year of primary. The focus of learning is completely different. Makes zero sense!

How long did your child care placement last for @BabyG4?

From my understanding all the external degrees require you to find your own placements.

My uni finds mine for me But as I said above, you have to be in their radius or you have to find your own. i'm not wanting to say which one, as it gives away my location, but I'm happy to PM which one.
