Default Do you like the name...

    Chrisanthy (pronounced kris-ANNE-thee)?

It's been a favourite of mine for a long time and hopefully I get to use it one day. Its a Greek name meaning golden flower. The proper spelling is actually Chrysanthe though but to honour someone I know named Chris (Christine) I prefer it spelt differently.

    Thoughts?

If you met a girl or woman named Chrisanthy what would you think?

Is Santhy a good nickname? Santhy by itself is a Hindu name meaning peace.

I really don't like it. Especially written down.

    Santhy is ok though

ETA I think if you like it and especially if it's to honour someone you should use it.

It's not to my taste, but it's not something that I would raise an eyebrow at.

That being said, I would stick with the traditional spelling. I think it looks nicer, and given its an uncommon name, it would hopefully be easier for people to spell. I think it's still honouring the person

ETA I like Santhy as a nickname.

I don't like it at all.
I would use the traditional spelling.

I would think a person with that name would be constantly repeating it as people wouldn't catch it the first time. As a kid it would maybe be shortened to Chris as its a bit of an awkward name to say.

I'd definitely stick to the original spelling, at least then you can see it's a derivative of the flower.

I'm pretty sure the original spelling is pronounced CREE-Santh? There is no EEE at the end.

I'm not a fan sorry. I don't like traditional names changed, particularly to phonetic spelling. And the child is going to be spelling the name her entire life

Sure, so do I and some people spell it wrong. But altering the spelling gives them even less hope of spelling it right.

Every time though? You choose whatever name you want I'm just saying that spelling and pronunciation is going to garner a lot of confusion.
