Default Adoption and foster care in QLD - Needing info please

    Hi all!

Just wanted to post a quick message to ask about adoption and foster care in QLD. I'm single (they recently changed the law in QLD allowing single people to adopt - woohoo!!), 24, live alone and would really like to help out children in need. I'd like to either adopt or permanently foster care a child 0 - 2yrs. I'm leaning more towards foster care as I know the local adoption line is long and that as a single person I'm probably not going to be the first choice over couples.

I've wanted to be a mum all my life and while I know being a foster carer doesn't make me their mother, the love and urge to care for a child I believe amounts to the same thing. I just don't know a lot about the process that isn't on the website and would LOVE some stories from people that have been through it.

A few questions I have are, how long did it take you to be placed with a permanent foster child? Is it rare to have an infant or toddler placed with you? I would definitely consider accepting a sibling group. Basically just any info you have is greatly appreciated!!

    Thanks for your time 😊
