I have a friendship like this.
9/10 catch ups one of us can't make it for some reason. We've pretty much just gone with "spur of the moment" catch ups now.
It's really nothing either of us have done, it's just that we are really, REALLY busy.
It might not be a hot/cold thing so much as a friend like mine/like me?

I had a friendship like this. In the end I couldn't be bothered and now it ****es her off that my bff is her hubbies cousin. Turns out she thinks that I'm not classy enough for her because I don't have a phd

Default Hot and cold new friend

I had a couple of "friendships" like this.
Unsure whether it was anxiety, they were too busy or whatever..... but I found it exhausting and hurtful at times and let it go. Still civil and say hi and may chat if I see them but I leave it at that.

It's one thing to let you down but it's another to let your children down too - like with a play date. I have no tolerance for friends like that now I have children.

I had a similar sort of experience. Felt really relaxed with this woman I met through school. We had a few coffee dates and "connected" (or so I thought) as she was very open and engaging and everything just felt natural etc. The catch ups and conversations in the school yard dried up a bit and I noticed she was extremely popular amongst the school mums (various year levels not just my child's year) and I realised she's just one of those ladies who gets along with everyone really well, and that our catch ups weren't anything special to her because she's like that with loads of other people. Not her fault or my fault, more that I don't often connect with other women that well so for me it stood out as special. For her, not so much!
