DH proposed with a beautiful loose diamond then we went to the jeweler and designed the ring together

Personally, I don't have an engagement ring as I'm not that into wearing jewellery and would worry about damaging or losing it, or would probably just stick it in a drawer.

We both have gold wedding rings we got from pawnbat.ca. I can't remember how much they were, but not particularly expensive.

DH took me to a jeweller so I could show him the type of thing I like/don't like. Then he later bought the ring and surprised me with it

We both chose mine but I wouldn't have minded him choosing it as I trust his taste, he knows what I do and don't like. For me to choose it myself wouldn't have felt right to me.

My DH chose the diamonds and had mine made. I always said I wanted small pink diamonds and a princess cut diamond. I didn’t ever expect to get the pink diamonds but I did. My ring is just what I wanted but if I could change one thing it would be the shape of the band as the edges are square and not rounded off but that’s probably being a bit fussy!

I love the fact he had it made for me and selected the diamonds.

I chose mine. Which is a good thing as the one i originally wanted didnt suit me. 24 months later though i dont wear either my wedding ring or engagement ring but one of my late grandmothers rings instead.

Dh told me I had to buy my own

There is a back story as to why though- the first time we got engaged, dh had a gorgeous ring custom made. But when we split up a few months later, I pawned it at Cash Converters for $90 (apparently 10% of what it was worth... later found out it was a hell of a lot more than that!). Anywho, we got back together and he proposed again a couple of years later but he was still a bit hurt about the original ring so told me I had to buy my own.

He then surprised me a couple of years ago with my dream set that he had hidden away for ages.
