I knew it was going to happen as he asked me my ring size (didn't think to use a ring that he had given me previously). It was 6 months later and not the 2 months as he had planned as he work trailer with his tools was stolen and that was a major financial loss. Yes it was insured but still $10k short

We both chose together, and it was one of those jewellery places where you need to be buzzed in and let in.

We sat down together and I tried on various sizes/styles and then we came up with our own design which was made.
He did surprise me with the finished ring which was lovely.

As a strong feminist I don't get the traditional proposal and waiting to be asked the question.

So we decided to get married, like we decided to move in together and have kids. It was a joined decision and so was the choice of our jewellery up to a point.

We agreed on how much to spend on each other and DH offered me a beautiful ring, classical design while I got him a watch. We both knew what style we liked so it wasn't a huge surprise ;-)

Default Spin off: engagement ring surprise or choose it yourself?

If I'm ever lucky enough to have DP propose to me, I'd love him to choose it. He bought a bracelet for me the first birthday I knew him, and I love knowing that he put some thought into it and chose it. It means a lot to me when people choose a gift for me.

DH chose mine which is what I wanted. He chose exactly the design I would have chosen. I know plenty of people who chose their own but it wasn't what I wanted for me.

We went ring shopping together - I appreciated being able to have input on the design.

Mine is a bit extreme - but it was light hearted at the time! I gave my now hubby the jewellery shop card with the ring design number on it and said - if u ever propose, this is the one I want. Proposed 18 months later! With that ring

We went shopping together and I chose the ring I wanted and then he bought it when he decided to propose.
