Thats what ive been told with both my Boys. The start of your period is classed as part of the gestation so technically only pregnant for 38 weeks but 40 weeks gestation.

If you're 5 weeks 5 days, you conceived (assuming you have a 14 day luteal phase) 3 weeks 5 days ago. So with that I'm getting approve 17th November. So would probably rule out 21st so would have been 11th (sperm can live for 5 days before meeting with an egg. Egg only lasts 24 hours).
@Mamasupial basically the same as what has been explained here.

@BEARD88, @Mamasupial is correct. A dating scan dates the pregnancy based on the crown rump length of the fetus.

Working out your due date by dates is when you go from the first day of your last period. There is some margin for error in this as not every woman has the standard 28 day cycle, ovulating on day 14.

It is correct though that a pregnancy is dated from the first day of your last period, so typically you are already 2 weeks pregnant before you even conceive.

Yes I understand thats how they get your due date. I think there is a misunderstanding here.

I was basically trying to explain too the original poster that she was told she is 5 weeks 5 days that if she counts that back that wont be the conception date as she was confused. That actual conception would have been approx 2 weeks after that.

For eg on an untrasound when it says how many weeks along you are that isnt from the date of actual conception its how far along in gestation you are.

If the scan is saying 5 weeks 5 days. Count backwards 3 weeks 5 days to get approx conception. Keeping in mind the egg us only viable for 24 hours BUT sperm can survive for up to 5 days.

You'll need to do paternity testing I'm afraid
The only way you'll know for sure.
