@Muchulu1 I'm not so sure on my supply still, I think it's still a little low. She only put on 135 grams in a week, so just under the recommended weight gain. Almost back to birth weight now though. She's growing so well everywhere else though, she's up 4.5cm in length and 2cm in head circumference since birth. She's happy and alert when awake and pretty chilled out so it's hard to tell. We're back to the breastfeeding clinic on Tuesday. I'm only managing to pump out about 40ml 1 hour post feed (prior to motilium I was lucky to get 10-15ml) so not sure it's enough really. We're still doing 1 60ml formula top up at night too.
Was awesome to only get up once, looking like tonight's going to be the same, up feeding now at 3am after her last feed was at 11:30pm so hopefully I get another 3.5-4 hours out of her.
Mother group sounds good, we start ours in a few weeks. Looking forward to it. I know another lady in my area who had her baby 1 week after us and we've been chatting a bit and have decided to start walking a bit together so that'll be nice to have someone else to chat with and then when our babies are older we can have play dates too.

Our outing on Friday went well! Was so nice to get out of the house! Lucy had put on 160g since discharge (Sunday) and was only 40g off birth weight so definitely happy with that and more comfortable that she is getting enough milk. We also went out for lunch which was really nice, even if it was just a quickie. Lucy pretty much slept through the whole outing and was actually really good in the car seat. We had our second outing today to visit her great grandfather which was pretty special. Was a longer trip this time and again she did awesome, sleeping pretty much the whole time.

Unfortunately my mum heads back to work tomorrow so I'll be on my own for the next week till she is back on Friday. She travels for work so is in all sorts of remote place during the week. Freaking out a little bit being alone and not having any back up at hand! Also I can't drive yet so will be house bound. My brother and sister in law will no doubt help out if I need anything during the week but still going to be exhausting!
@Muchulu1 The group sounds good. The child health nurse gave me the dates of the groups starting soon at their clinic so will see what works once I am back to driving. She also made an appointment for a home visit with one of the nurses in a few weeks which will be great to get some updated measurements.
@hopefull29 Sounds like you are doing great with feeding! If she is growing and happy then it must be a good sign! Must be nice to have made a 'mummy friend' too. What a great idea to have someone to go walking with!

@Positivity so glad your outings went well, so adorable seeing her great grandfather. Unfortunately all my grandparents have passed away. Go Lucy putting on 160 grams. Amazing!
I hope you manage ok without your mum, I'm sure you'll be just fine and settle into a nice little routine!

How's everyone going? Any baby news @jess8383? This week by myself has been pretty variable with good days and bad days. We have had some really fussy times which I suspect have a bit to do with wind but sometimes I'm really not sure which makes it tough to know what to do. I would say mostly she has been pretty good though. She is feeding well which I'm thankful for. Generally she'll go 3 hours between feeds but last night she went four hours which was awesome! Not sure if it was a bit of a one off though. Was so nice to get a bigger chunk of sleep!

Still not feeling overly confident! I definitely feel better when mum is around on the weekends to help out. I'm sure it will get better though. Just lots of learning everyday for both of us!

@Positivity not yet, 36+2 today. Bub is dropping centiles on scans so they're thinking of inducing me this coming week!

I found with my first spending just a little longer burping her helped immensely with wind. Sometimes it takes a lot of patience though lol. It's a tough gig at times but I'm sure you are doing really well xxx

@Positivity glad you survived your week, each week is just going to get easier and easier! How nice is it to get that extra hour over night. Last 2 nights we've had 5 and 5 1/2 hours. Feel so refreshed when we get those nights. It's still so new, I don't think any new Mum ever feels confident and we will never stop learning. Keep up the amazing work you're doing a great job.
@jess8383 exciting you might be holding your bubs this week, they were worried about our growth on the scans too but everything turned out fine and little miss was 3.3kg.

How is everyone else going? It's turned a bit quiet in here but I'm sure that's just because we're all so busy with our little ones......

We're going really good, finally back to birth weight at 5 weeks. She's still not really gaining enough though. Doctors aren't worried yet because she's happy and alert and is growing so much in length and head circumference. We're seeing a specialist this week to see if her tongue tie is affecting her getting her milk out. We've upped the formula top up at night too so hopefully that'll get her weight on.
I've decided if she's still not gaining adequate weight at 8 weeks it might be time to switch to full time formula. I'm really struggling with the idea of this though, obviously I'll do whatever I need to for her health and to ensure she's getting enough but breastfeeding was something I really wanted to be able to do. I guess it's just a bit disappointing I can't provide her enough milk to meet her needs. Really hoping the tongue tie is the answer.
Other than that we're going great and I'm loving being her mummy.
Has anyone heard of the wonder weeks book? I got it through the week and we're right in the middle of leap 1, everything they say in the book is spot on.

@Positivity Great that bub is feeding well & she's going ~3hrs between feeds. You guys are doing so well- that's awesome for her age! How are you feeling this week? Are you feeling more confident without your mum being around during the week? How is your recovery going? I bet your looking forward to being able to drive again!
@hopefull29 All the best for your appt. with the specialist. I hope you get some answers & a solution so you & bubs can continue to BF. I can totally understand that the prospect of having to switch to FT formula would be difficult . I know it isn't something that you would take lightly. So much respect for your perseverance & determination.
@jess8383 Any news? So excited for another little bambino!

Things are not so well for us atm . Charlie is in the hospital. We presented at emergency as I noticed a rash ( tiny non blanching area on his back) & fever. Obviously the concern with these symptoms is meningococcal. Very much worst case scenario but not something we can risk with an 8wk old baby. The hospital have done a heap of tests including a lumbar puncture . Unfortunately most of the tests have to be cultured so we won't have any definitive answers for 48hrs. In the meantime poor little bub is being treated very aggressively for the worst case scenario. Absolutely heartbreaking to see everything he's going through. He has wires & IV lines all over him. I'm just holding him & having him sleep in my arms. FX we get some good news as the test results start rolling in . Longest 48hrs of my life.
