    Default anyone used lactation cookies?

has anyone taken lactation cookies to help with milk supply?
with my first I didn't have enough supply for his needs and ended up on formula. this time I want to try harder and have heard these cookies can help with supply.

I did and I think they helped. I made my own from the 'b.e.l.l.y.b.el.ly' recipe. The raw batter is even more potent so have a bit before you bake!
And make sure you use brewers yeast, not any other kind

I did a few months back. I had a slight difference after a couple weeks but not much so I ended up on motilium to help with my supply.

I'm off the motilium now and I pump after each feed instead to boost myself up.

As long as bubs sucks and sucks and sucks some more it will help boost you up.

I used the pinky boobie biscuits and they did nothing for my supply. I made my own and I had milk everywhere! Definely worked & worth making your own.

I used the Pinky McKay boobie bikkies and had heaps of milk. I also used Weleda Nursing tea. I think they both helped as well as pumping around the clock the first few days after birth.

It was exhausting but like you we had trouble establishing breastfeeding first time around and ended up formula feeding and with my second I was determined to breastfeed. I let the staff at the hospital know that my goal was to breastfeed and they were so helpful. I also saw a lactation consultant before hand and hand her come out after. It was bloody hard for the first 6 weeks but now we're 8 months going strong with no signs of stopping. Good luck!

When did everyone start eating the lactation cookies? I was hoping I would have some colostrum or leaking before giving birth but nothing yet really. Hoping I can breastfeed and keen to make it work somehow.

They definitely work for me. My suggestion is to eat plenty. Most people who have told me that they don't work said they were having 1 or 2 everyday for a while. I laughed.... Who can eat 1 or 2 cookies and then stop??? Not me! I eat like 6 (or more ) a day. I also find that making a big effort to increase my water intake at the same time helps too.
If you do make them I would suggest making a big batch and then baking half and freezing the other half of the dough. It freezes great and then is super easy to bake another batch the next week.

Just as a side note, the most important things for ensuring good supply is to have baby feed well within the first hour of birth and then feed LOTS within the first 24hours of life. Research shows that early and frequent stimulation of the breasts is so important for you body's long term supply capacity. You can hand express if baby can't or won't feed but baby is better.
Also make sure baby is latching well in the first few days and weeks. A poor latch won't stimulate the breasts as well. So see a lactation consultant early if you are having problems.
    Good luck xxx

I can't remember exactly, I think I started the cookies around 38 weeks but that was because I wanted to collect colostrum pre birth as I was having an early scheduled caesarean.

Do you know how to hand express? I didn't try eating the cookies until after my babies were born but I did do antenatal expression g with both my kids. I highly recommend it. Happy to talk more about it if you like. X
