    Default Vent.. Door sales people!

Ok so my 8 month old has literally not slept all day, she's miserable, has a cold and is in teething hell. 4 year old is not at daycare today and being her usual charming self driving me up the wall. Just got a call from DH, late yet again tonight .

I finally just got DD2 to sleep, I mean she was literally asleep on the boob and these damn people ring the doorbell. What the eff!! Why can't people just stick a flyer in the mailbox, if I'm interested I'll contact you!?!

I was really rude to them. They asked how I was and I said "not great! I just got this baby to sleep and you rang the doorbell and woke her up!", I didn't even care that it was a super awkward encounter, their mouths dropped open and they didn't even know what to say. But now I'm feeling a little bad because I'm not usually that frank or outright rude to people.

No real point to this, I'm just super annoyed right now, also mixed with a little anxiety induced guilt and I needed to let it out. I hate door knockers, I don't care what they're selling or promoting, if they knock on my door they won't get a dollar from me. What's so hard about leaving a flyer ffs!

    Agree. I hate it.
You can get 'no doorknocker' signs from your equivalent of Consumer Affairs. It's illegal for them to knock if you have one prominently displayed. Unfortunately it doesn't apply to charities, but it certainly cuts down the knocks.

I don't answer the door. I figure if it's someone I know they will call or text first, or call if there's no answer at the door. I hate hate hate the awkward convo at the front door.
Now that Aust post emails/texts if you've got a delivery due, there's really not many other people it could be!

I've done that before to a Foxtel door knocker then proceeded to complain to DH loud enough that he could hear me as he was walking to the next house. Afterwards I felt so horrible but at the time I just saw red.

I once saw a sign that said "baby sleeping. You wake it, you take it"

I can't stand it either. Wakes the kids, makes the dogs bark, I often have to run around to find proper clothes to answer the door in.

Thanks for the replies, I needed to have a bit of a vent. Feel much better now that both girls are finally asleep!

Love the idea of a do not knock sign, I'm going to buy one online right now! Thanks for the suggestion

If you search do not knock you used to be able to get them for free. I got mine a few years ago and great to stop most of them.
