Default Need some advise on low ovarian reserve and IVF Australia. Please Help!

Hello everyone! Just wondering if anyone in here have had any experience with IVF Australia that could share with me. I recently had my blood tested for fertility study after failing to conceive naturally for the past 8 months. The result came out that I have a low ovarian reserve of 2.1 Our Gyno referred us to see DR lllingworth from IVF Australia. So we have ourselves booked to see him this December for first Consultation. Any advise and suggestion will be greatly appreciated. Desperately wanting to be a mum at age 38....

Hello, I don't have experience with IVF Australia, but I also have low ovarian reserve at 4. My FSH day 3 is 13. I hear estrogen before the start of a cycle is the way to go. FSH in us oldies starts to drift up early in the luteal phase. Adding estrogen brings down the high FSH levels which is of real benefit for women with low ovarian reserve as it prevents scattered growth of follicles. I'm currently on synarel, which has a similar effect but I'm not sure whether it's the same as adding estrogen. Apparently the protocol for women with low ovarian reserve is important, but not many fertility clinics know how to treat women with low ovarian reserve.
I wish us the best! I have my first scan tomorrow. If this long cycle doesn't work I'll be asking for estrogen for my next cycle.

    Try this link: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3288134/

You might find this useful as it talks about estrogen to reduce FSH.

I'm doing my second cycle with IVF Australia with a different doctor. I have low ovarian reserve but I am older than you - just turned 43. If this cycle doesn't work, I will use donor eggs. I thought I wasn't going to be offered a chance to do ivf with my own eggs but my specialist encouraged me to give it a go. The doctors are great there. They're very organised. I've had some communication problems with some off the staff, but if you speak up and ask questions, they will always clarify and rectify anything. You're in good hands. Good luck.

    Default IVF Update

Hello Everyone!!! Thanking you all for spending time to reply. ((Big hugs)) Just wanna let you guys know how I went with my first consultation back in December. As per my blood test results, fortunately I have no other issues except for low egg reserve so Dr Illingworth advised us to keep trying naturally and if still not successfully come back see him in March. I am now 8 days late and have been getting all early pregnancy symptoms but still tested negative with home kits. My period is usually early or on time and rarely late. For the past 13 cycles it was late once and only for 2 days. Yesterday I experienced a yellow snotty like discharge with two tiny streaks of blood. Immediately my hopes and dreams got deflated as I think "here we go again blood.." anyway...I expected more blood to come as the day progress but it never came. ((woohooo)) A part of me is scared and worried if this is my early sign of early menopause as Dr did mention that I will likely run out of eggs by the age of 45...Cross my fingers hopefully not earlier. Will let you guys know how I go in the next few days if anticipation don't kill me : )

    Default IVF Australia experience

I used ivf Australia, and while they're fine medically speaking they're a hot mess administratively. Expect to make multiple phone calls and emails just to sort out simple things. I also had a run in with their counsellor- my partner and I (same sex couple) are using donor sperm and counselling is a requirement of accessing the donor sperm. The counsellor made a number of ridiculous and unprofessional statements.
I ended up writing a formal complaint. I will say that once that complaint got high enough up the tree, which it did very quickly things were much better. Not perfect- but I got a sense they were treating me with much more respect than otherwise.
I suspect it's probably the industry. People needing help to start their family are pretty desperate, and don't have much room to move especially if you need to wait for donor sperm or eggs. So they'll put up with a lot of rubbish to get where they need to go.
If I had my time again I'd pay the few hundred dollars extra to be on multiple waiting lists- that way if you're not happy with the clinic you can move without having to wait all over again.
