I'd like to know what you ladies would do in this situation.

As you know our only issue is low sperm count. We are seeing fertility specialist this afternoon to get second sperm test results back. What I'm not sure about is we were planning on trying naturally in dec, then seeing if we can do iui in Jan, then on 1 feb I have to have a laparoscopy and hysteroscopy so I assume we will be out maybe for feb, otherwise it will be natural in feb. Then we were going to try and get in on the April ivf round in Sydney, we are in Coffs Harbour. If we wait for the Coffs Harbour round it will be July. If we do April ivf that means I have to start taking ivf medication I believe in feb. I do t know if you can still fall pregnant while taking the medication? Does anyone know?

This morning I've just spoken to an acupuncturist / Chinese herbalist and he said that his treatments need about 6 months to get results.

I'm anti drugs and don't particularly like the idea of ivf, other that the increase in chances of conceiving.

My question is, do we proceed with April ivf or should we try natural Accupunture/ Chinese herbs?

We have been trying since April, I'm 33 he is 39.

    IVF dear.

Chinese people always promise the earth and do not really know the issue.

My husband has a genetic condition, but the chinese medicine person and accupuncturist said "oh we can definitiely help your husband". I don't know anyone who can change genes!

The chinese herbalist and accunpuncturist would be thinking hubbies sperm are just slow and not swimming. Any other ladies want to weigh in on this?

Come down to sydney for the first FS appointment and see what they say. It can't hurt.

They may suggest TESA which is surgical extraction of sperm. (dont go to westmead fertility centre) for that.

They may suggest IUI based on the sperm count, morphology, genotype, karoytype testing, etc. Sometimes its not just low sperm count and they won't know till they do ALL testing.

They may suggest donor sperm. (in that case get yourself on the wait list asap).

you cannot fall pregnant whilst taking the medication but after trigger it is possible. They first will give you medication to stop the ovulation process, then give you medication to grow follicles + medication to stop ovulation. Then you will take a trigger injection and then they will extract the eggs. Fertilise in a petrie dish and then put back 3-5 days later.

Its not really drugs, its hormones to make your body do the stuff it needs to. Without the hormone stopping you from ovulating you will pop off all the eggs and they won't be able to collect any.

What has you so worried about the drugs?????????
