Default Is it possible to disable my daughter's facebook account?

My daughter and her friend set up a fake facebook account to trick their friends for a laugh. Without going into all the details, it has gotten out of hand.

Does anyone know if facebook will disable the account on request from a parent?

Plan b is disable wifi at home and take her phone off her. Trouble is that will punish the whole family.

No I don't think so. But change your wifi password and that will only affect her if you don't tell her the code.

Report the account as underage users and they might disable it. FB are inconsistent in policing their site. I'd try to get her to delete it herself (threaten to take away phone etc). Good luck! I'm not looking forward to my DD getting to this stage.

What's considered underage though? DD and her friend are 16.

Underage is under 13. You might be able to report it as a fake account though.

Did she tell you or did you find out by accident?

You shouldn't need to disable WiFi. Change the password and dont give her the new one. Or only give her the password to a guest account, then you can kick her off whenever you choose.

Okay, yeah if they're 16 FB won't be interested in doing anything from a parent/child point of view. You may have some luck from the 'its a fake profile' angle.

She has been telling me about it for a while. It all started out pretty harmless and I didn't think too much of it.

It started with her and her friend setting up a fake account as an experiment. They added the fake account to group chats with friends and and sat back and watched what happened. They invented a back story for the fake girl. All of their friends have added fake girl as a friend. One is sure she knows her in real life. That was the harmless part.

Trouble is they stupidly accepted complete strangers as friends. Pulled a few cleavage shots off the internet and posted them as photos. They are now being sent d!ck pics from men in India. DD blocked the d!ck pic guys, but the friend requests keep on coming. They are trying to chat live with DD now. She thinks it is hilarious.

The more I think about it, getting the account disabled, or changing the wifi password won't do much. There is nothing stopping her from going over someone's house and starting all over again.

I think I will have a chat to her friend's parents and see if they knows about it and what they think about the situation.

That might work. Won't stop her from cranking up a new account though.
