    Default Anti-Mullerian Hormone (AMH) test

    Hi everyone

I've started experiencing occasional hot flushes so my GP order a blood test to check my Anti-Mullerian Hormone (AMH) which apparently looks at your egg supply. My result came in at 8.1 pmol/L which is on the lower side (14-30 is considered normal). We want to have a third child so I immediately freaked out!! We have started TTC but I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this? Have you fallen pregnant naturally? Is a result of 8.1 really bad? 😢

    TIA

I have had my AMH tested twice ( for egg donation purposes) . The first time it was around 7 ( low!) the second time, a year later, it was 41.
My understanding is that it should be considered with other factors ( follicle count etc) and that it is not an exact science.

    Hi,
I had mine texted in 2015 and it was 8.8, so my partner and I decided to get on with trying. It can change although I've never heard of the huge jump of the lady above before. My doctor advised that it can actually decrease rapidly within about 12 months, so I'd guess mine is lower now.

I did, we had two tries with iui (we are a same sex couple). The first ended with a miscarriage at 11 weeks but I'm a pregnant with the second attempt and 32 weeks

    Thank you!
It can be a bit overwhelming to get a low AMH reading - I found it confronting. But it's true there are other factors and it says nothing of the quality of the eggs, just the quantity. Wishing you luck with whatever you decide!

Thank you so much dani251. I'm just hoping we can conceive naturally! Really hoping!
