Default Drinking at home before the kids go to bed.

Ok, for some reason I feel really naughty if I have a drink before the kids are in bed. However, tonight I feel like a rum so would it be bad to drink it while I bath the kids?

I don't drink but if I did I'd have no issue doing it while my daughter was awake... maybe not at 10am but after 5pm is ok I think!

ETA and I mean A drink, not getting sloppy drunk haha

My rough rules of thumb... it's ok to start a drink when you are preparing dinner. Pace drinks as if you were needing to drive. I generally just have 2 over the 3-4 hrs in the evening

I don't drink much these days. Occassionally I would have a drink after work so 7am while kiddo was getting ready for school and then have a few more before bed.

It took me a long time to actually have a drink with kiddo being in my care because I was once accused of being a drunk after having 1 drink and ending up in hospital with kiddo.

I will answer your question then ask another (as I am curious).

I would (if I drank atm). I would have no issue if anyone had a drink or two while the kids are awake.

Now the question - do our DH's/DP's/DW's/DF's also wait until kids are in bed before drinking?

Definitely not bad OP! I would have no issues having a glass of wine or two while the kids are awake.

I love that only us shift workers get this. I used to sit on my balcony at around 8am some morning having a drink. It wasn't until I realised I was getting very judgemental looks that I started doing it inside.

In answer to the question, I have no issue as long as one parent/ adult is capable of caring for kids dealing with any issues. This would also apply to after bedtime.

Neither hubs or I really drink at home. He has quite happily trained the kids to get his beer from the fridge though.
