    They had the same rule at the pools I used to take my oldest to for swimming lessons. I always ignored it. No way was I leaving ds1 unsupervise

    Nope. Not a chance I'd let a 5yo go in alone. I wouldn't let my 7yo in there alone!

    No way. The rule is 7 at our local private pool, and I ignore that rule, too.

    I don't actually understand the rule (although it is the same in all our local pools). What harm could happen for a 5 year old boy to be in a women's change room with his mum? He might see a naked women? How is that harmful?

    I really don't get it. And I could not agree more that 5 is just way too young. I would be surprised if people followed it.

    My 5 year old has swimming every week and I still have to help her regulate the temperature of the shower (it can be super, scalding hot for some stupid reason), dry off after, and get dressed. What 5 year old is going to be comfortable doing that alone in a strange place? It's a crazy rule, one I would also be ignoring, and complaining about if I had the energy.
