Default Would you go overseas without family?

I have an opportunity to meet up with my bf in Thailand next year.

DH says I should go and is happy for me to. I want to but I'm nervous. I travelled alone a lot prior to children and often since, but always with them.

I'm worried I'll miss them and just fret the whole time. I'm also concerned they will be upset that I'm not around. They will be 2.5, nearly 5 and 6 when I go.

It will be only for one week. I haven't seen my bf for a while (she lives in U.K.) and I fully trust my DH with kids. He will be taking annual leave to watch kids.

So would you go? I can't imagine having that much time to myself/ child free. It's a pretty exciting idea but don't want to book it and then regret it. I'm a sahm and haven't spent one night away from my kids.

Also, this trip is a bit significant because my bf and I spent 6 months in Thailand backpacking when we were single 18 years olds so it's supposed to be a bit of a reunion.

Has anyone ever gone on a holiday all for themselves and left their young kids at home?

For me I think it depends how your 2.5 year old would cope without you? If they are easy going etc then go for it. My DD is 20 months and there is no way I could leave her at 2 1/2 but that's just her personality

Do it! I've been away on girls weekends and one 4 day stint without DH and the kids. It's a wonderful opportunity, you'll have a blast and it sounds like your kids will be more than fine with your DH.

I would totally go for it

You'll miss them, they'll miss you, but it's only a week. Such a great opportunity to have quality time with your bf.

I'm going to be in the minority here, but I definitely wouldn't go. I'm not saying I wouldn't like a week away on my own, but I just couldn't be so far away from my son, in case something happened to him.
I know that he'd be in safe hands with my parents and he adores them, but after what our family has been through, I just wouldn't be able to relax, knowing that I was so far away from him if something went wrong. The furthest my husband and I have stayed away from our son, is the CBD - 20 minutes from our place and 10 minutes from the RCH.
If you feel that you can relax, go for it. I just couldn't.
