Default Another super annoying pregnancy question ...

Is it normal to not put on any weight at all and then suddenly (like, almost overnight) in the second trimester wake up with a bump and have gained a kilo or two?

I lost over 10% of my body weight in the first few weeks due to extreme morning sickness, then I slowly started gaining it back at an almost unnoticeable rate.

Four days ago I was halfway back to my pre-pregnancy weight, but then overnight my bump popped out and in 4 days I've put on 1.4 kg!!! I've never gained weight that fast in my life, and I'm worried it's not healthy or normal.

I'm 18.5 weeks, if that helps.

Yes, totally normal. I'm 36 weeks, about to pop, but in the last literally 2-3 days I've packed on a couple kilos. Before that, steady for a week or two. It changes from person to person, but I'm the type who stays steady, then puts it all on, in a pattern. Sounds like you might be, too!

It sounds normal to me. I remember I'd have weeks when my weight didn't change at all and then all of a sudden I'd gain a couple of kilos in a week!

Yep. Everything from more blood pumping, baby/plancenta weight, boobs growing. It was more noticeable with no 2 as I was sicker with her.

    Era. Fluid retention too.

@Shoopuf that's happening to me too. I'm in the 3rd tri now and it's happening even more, but I think it's mainly fluid retention. I found during the 2nd tri I could gain nothing for a week, then gain it all the next week.

Yep this was me. I didn't gain anything until 17 weeks as I had super bad morning sickness. Then gained about 3.5kg ish from 17-24. I'm nearly 27 weeks now and it's slowed down again.
