Default Hello everyone! Melbourne-based student midwife :)

    Good afternoon everyone!
    Hope you are all well.

First off, a little introduction to me:
My name is Saskia and I am a 24-year old student midwife at Australian Catholic University in Melbourne. I moved from Tasmania last year after living there for my whole life (interspersed with bouts of travel and one year in QLD). I love it in Melb but sometimes miss the green little city of Hobart back home. My hobbies include bike riding, reading, yoga, drawing, cooking and travelling!

As I am relatively new to Melbourne I am finding it very hard to find pregnant women to follow as a part of my degree.
As a student midwife, I must sign up 10 pregnant people and follow their journey. This involves me attending at the very minimum four antenatal appointments, labour & birth, and two postnatal appointments. I can be there as support, as a silent presence or even just as company while you wait yet another twenty-five minutes in the waiting room!

It's an awesome opportunity for you to rant and rave about your pregnancy to someone who is just as interested in it as you are and to also help shape the next generation of midwives through your own experience.

Please know that my level of involvement is completely in your hands so i'll never do anything or see anything that you are not comfortable with. Mostly I am an observer and a learner. However, I am also supported by registered midwives and lecturers so if you ever have any general questions that are pregnancy-related then I can turn to them for advice. Also, as a student I have all the latest midwifery studies and evidence at my fingertips which may come in handy too!

PLEASE contact me if you know of anyone or think you yourself might be interested. More info can be found by searching ACU CCE on google or by asking me

Would love to hear from you.

    Saskia

I would also like to add that I am based in the Melbourne CBD so would be happy to travel up to 45 min one-way in order to make your appointments.
