Default Whoop cough vaccine causes autism?

    Hi all,

Is there any actual evidence or proven studies in Australia that whooping cough vaccine causes autism??

I know someone who refuses to get this shot as she is trying to fall pregnant and strongly believes this is true?..

Is she right or is it because she is so anti-vax that she will use any excuse to not have the shot??....

Any information or opinions would be much appreciated.

    Cheers!

There has never, ever been any connection made between autism and ANY vaccine.

Totally false. I believe It was the MMR vaccine that originally caused the controversy. It was later found that the dr who made this claim had actually falsified the research. There have been hundreds of studies since with no relationship found between any vaccine and autism.

This above and also mention that there have been far too many cases of babies dieing from whooping cough because of people NOT vaccinating

Most claim that is causes autism because they get the "signs" of it around the same time the shot is given. Pure coincidence. By that token, I can assume moving house causes autism as we did that shortly before my son was diagnosed. Probably shouldn't move house again just in case.

ETA: I get beyond irrationally angry at people who claim they don't vaccinate because of autism, because basically all that sounds like in my head is "I would rather my child risk death than be like your child".

Default Whoop cough vaccine causes autism?

My family is one of those nutty anti-vaccine families; I was actually raised with no shots during my childhood, and now my parents have all brainwashed my sisters not to vaccinate their kids. I value empirical research not blogs, so I have done a lot of research to counter their BS. One of the most convincing studies was that in the 1990's Japan discontinued the MMR vaccine (that was rumoured to be linked to autism by Dr Wakefield) and guess what... Autism rates still steadily increased ! Shock! Horror!! (Sarcasm intended there)

On a side note, my daughter is on the spectrum and she's AMAZING!! Not without her "issues" but I would not change her for the world.

NOW let me make this clear to your friend, or whoever else pro-vaccine is reading; I would MUCH much much rather my child being autistic than having/dying from/or exposing diseases to imunocompromised or an under immunised infant.

There are many people (mostly anti-vaccers) who will say that Measles and Mumps etc are NATURAL and even healthy to get, but people die of the measles!! And men become sterile from the mumps!

And the fact that there are (seemingly) intelligent people choosing death over Autism is very offensive to me.

You can't catch autism. You are either born with it or not. End of.
