    Default U.S. Election

I've read a few articles this morning about the possibility of Trump dropping charges against Julian Assange. I've thought for years that the American charges against Assange should be dropped so I would support this but it does make me wonder if he has played this game very shrewdly, bringing down one candidate in the hope the other will drop charges in return.

Interestingly Pauline Hanson is backing calls for this to happen. I wouldn't have picked her for a Wikileaks supporter.

What he did was wrong. Doesn't mean what he did in the past was also wrong.

I'm very disappointed in him but I'd still defend his rights.

Anyone else feel like we're living in a movie and it will end and we all get to go back to the real world? Even people I know who said they'd support trump are shocked and kind of appalled he actually won.

    I feel like it's a punchline.

Unfortunately not. I feel like the world will turn into something you only see in movies when minority groups are assaulted in all kinds of ways and it will be overlooked.

If the President thinks it's okay to discriminate so will society.

I think someone should remove Twitter access from Trump again too...

I just read the link. One thing is for sure. America will never be the same it doesn't matter how good or how bad he will be as president. Once the damage is done it's done. There will be another 9/11 for sure I think. My folks have told my sister to pack up and move back home here as she needs think about the safety of her and her daughter

Just woke up to this from Dan Rather, I had hoped Trump would now leave Twitter and be a mature leader...

'Donald Trump should perhaps step away from his phone and pick up a copy of the United States Constitution. The First Amendment protects "freedom of speech... the press...and the right of the people peaceably to assemble."

Trump just Tweeted what can be read as a threat to all three core principals of American democracy:

"Just had a very open and successful presidential election. Now professional protesters, incited by the media, are protesting. Very unfair!" - Donald Trump

Such rhetoric is dangerous from a new president and exactly what the country does not need now. This is the latest indication that it is gut check time for our press. Will they be intimidated? This portent is not a good one.'
