Sorry ladies, it was an hour's drive home and I only just got in.

No heartbeat was seen. No baby was identified.

I've not heard from the clinic yet but the radiographer (who was head of the department) said "We should be seeing more development than this by now."

She has asked me to re-scan again at some point and I'll consult with the clinic on that when they call.

Looks like it's much the same as last time. Staring down the barrel of another D&C.

@Blossom74 - no, I can't believe this! Are they sure it's not just the uterus position? If this is right, it's so unfair, you don't deserve this. I'm angry at this happening to you.

She didn't say much. Just that we should be seeing more by now which to be frank I agree with. Not many women get to 7 weeks without seeing at least their baby, if not a HB

The only information I got was that the sac was an irregular shape - sort of like a bow-tie. That it's measuring at 7w6d which is an impossibility as I am only 7 weeks today, and that 'sometimes the gestational sac produces HCG even if there is not a baby present.' Which I knew from last time, of course.

She took a sound recording for 2 minutes of the nothingness that was my baby's heartbeat.

I don't know what to do with myself. I've still not heard from my clinic. My phone keeps pinging with messages about "Tell us the good news!" from friends and family. I can't go on FB because everyone is asking after me, and I don't feel like I can say anything until I talk to DH. He is at work and doesn't know yet.

It's just awful. I knew it was too good to be true.

It's not your fault BIB, no need to apologise.

I don't know what she saw on the scan TBH. She focussed in on the little 'joining part' of the sac's bow tie. There was a small mass there of whitish 'haze' - but nothing definable. She never mentioned the words fetal pole or yolk sac. She definitely said she could not identify a baby.

She said she would request a re-scan but that she didn't want to give me any false hopes - it was more to clarify what she wasn't seeing, as opposed to what she was seeing.

She said she was going to access copies of the original 2 scans I had done so she could compare them. She *thinks* that maybe what's happened is that the tech at the first 2 scans only looked at part of the sac - as opposed to the whole thing - due to t's irregular shape.

I could see that the scan she did today was much clearer than the previous ones I had done. She was very experienced too, being head of the department, so she should know what she was talking about.

I wish the clinic would call.
