Hello everyone..hope some of you still remember me from over 40 thread.
after a failed IVF attempt with OE, DP and I finally decided to go for DE program. My FS recommended CFC in SA, but due to the limited availability (almost none) DE of my ethnicity, I did my research about Malaysia. We found this clinic and it has been a smooth journey so far for us, which We are grateful. Yesterday was the Egg collection day and the donor produced 20!!! I was informed 18 have been fertilised (DP produced his sample last trip) and we are now waiting how many successfully fertilised.
We are not doing fresh transfer as I was told, it would be better that we don't try to sincronyze my cycle with donor to increase my chance to properly be stimulated for good endo lining and also due to the distance. I am now on progynova. The clinic told me they are going to freeze 3 days embryos and when I am ready to transfer, they will thaw and grow further to 5 days before transferring. Has anyone heard of this method?
hope you don't mind that I am posting here in SA Africa thread...
the clinic has asked me to do my lining scan on day 10 to ensure that it is around 8-9mm. Can I get referral from my GP for a scan? Does Medicare cover at least some? I am excited, hoping but also scared. My DP has just been diagnosed with brain tumor (after we started the DE program). We were devastated but decided to go ahead with this program.
other than progynova, I am prescribed with cyclogest, to be inserted on day 14 after period starts. At this stage, the FET is approx 4 Nov, depending on my scan result.
Any advice would be appreciated especially about the 3 days embryo thawing and growing it to 5 days and also about the scan referral from GP.
    sorry for long post.
    have a good day everyone.

    Hi hon!

I am really sorry to hear about your hubby's illness. That must have been (and would continue to be) a great worry I'm sure. I hope he makes a full and prompt recovery

Re: The growing out of embies, I've not done it myself but I've heard it's quite common. Your lining scans should be covered by MC, with the costs varying depending on where you go, so it's worth asking around. I'm in a small country town and from memory I paid roughly $140 for one of mine and got about $80-$90 back I think? I'd hit my threshold so that will make a difference too. My FS gave me my referral but I see no reason why a GP couldn't order a scan for you?

I've been on the Progynova for the first time this cycle. I did ok on it but have had low level cramps in my belly from Day 1, so don't be surprised if that happens.

Hope it all goes beautifully for you hon!

I remember you too @Arianasmum. I have only done fresh transfers so not sure about protocols for frozen but I am sure some of the ladies here will be able to help when they come online. I am sorry to hear about your DH's illness. My DH was diagnosed with bowel cancer a few years ago. It's not an easy road.
