I want to use fresh eggs for my program. The fertility specialist in the clinic also advised us to use fresh eggs as they seem to be more effective than frozen ones. When we choose a donor, the fertility specialist will study my menstrual cycle and choose the best time to visit the clinic for fertilization. Up to this time, I’ll have to take birth control pills to synchronize my periods with the donor’s ones. Then we’ll have to visit the clinic and my hubby’s sperm will be picked up to fertilize the donor’s oocyte. After that the embryos will be transferred into my uterus and I’ll have to take hormone medicines to support a possible pregnancy. In two weeks the first pregnancy test should be done.

Hi, everybody. I decided to join this thread cause I need your help urgently. Both my hubby and I want to visit a fertility clinic soon to start our ED program. I’ve read on some forums that the infertile couple needs to do certain tests first. Is it really true? What kind of tests should we do? Why should we actually do this?

    Hi willowgirl,

You would need to do a few tests. HIV, Syphillis, hep b and c. Your husband would need to do a sperm sample. It would be a good idea on getting an extensive screening on it. karotype testing to make sure everything is absolutely fine.

hop on over to the egg donor pages if you wish to find out more. Bare in mind that clinics do not come with their own egg donors. You will need to find your own to take to the clinic with you. Both your donor and yourself will need to have counselling. And its not cheap!!

Hi, Willowgirl. I also did some hormone tests, blood tests and ultrasound checks before my program started. My hubby did a sperm test. You may find some information about necessary tests on the net.
P.S. The clinic we’ve got interested in has donors database. You gave them a short description of the woman who would suit you as an egg donor and find the one from their database. If you sign up a contract with them, they let you see the donor’s 3D photo.

The things you’ve written about the clinic sound good. It’s good that you’ll be able to see the donor’s photos. At least, you’ll know how your baby will look like. But frankly speaking, I don’t care much about it. I want to be a mom and it’s the most thing for me. Have you made any decision yet? Will you deal with the clinic you’ve mentioned in your initial post?

They phoned us last months and asked whether we’re going to sign up a contract with them. My hubby told them that we didn’t like our first visit to the clinic. They apologized and promised to fix everything. They told us that the clinic really has quite a lot of patients. They plan to open three more representatives in Kiev to serve their clients better. I think we need more time to decide whether to visit them or not… We don’t want to hurry up…

Hi, dear! I think you should trust your gut in this case. If the clinic suits you, you may give them a second chance. Maybe, they’re really so popular among the infertile couples. It’s really great that you had a chance to talk with a client manager and she promised you to fix everything. If they’re real professionals, they would do all necessary things to make your second visit an enjoyable one. I wish you good luck, hun.
