I've been reading articles about the movie this week and found two snippets that weren't that surprising.
    1. Rowan Atkinson's character was going to be a Christmas angel that stopped the affair at the gift wrapping counter with Alan Rickman.
I thought he was! Especially when he helped the kid get through the airport. But apparently it was going to be more obvious

    2. The movie never said for sure, but the director (I think) said the affair happened. Which makes me sad. I wanted it to be a nearly but no quite scenario. Poor Emma Thompson

That storyline always breaks my heart and when she listens to the Joni Mitchell cd crying in the bedroom and comes out with a brave face it kills me every time

I think that scene is so well done. I'm not usually one who tries to find "deeper meaning" but I think they really captured the essence of a lot of women. Slinking away to have the emotional outburst and coming back out with the brave face, trying not to ruin Christmas for the kids. Even in her moment of absolute hurt, and feeling her heart ripped out, she still considered her children and put them ahead of herself.

I agree. She did a magnificent job in that scene. It was relatable and raw.

I don't have free to air telly so I'm patiently waiting while the movie gets dragged off my hard drive, onto the computer so I can watch it haha

Emma Thompson was amazing, a truly beautiful, heartbreaking scene. Gee I love that movie.
