    Default Metformin symptoms

Hey guys sorry about the TMI, but just wondering I haven't had a solid poop in days, and when I do get the runs I get the cold and sweaty and cramps and feel like I could also spu. Is this a normal side effect of metformin or could it be something else ?

Yep metformin. I get a pain in my belly then I get 5 mins to find a toilet before it just starts coming out. Welcome to the world of metformin.

Some people the symptoms ease as their body adjusts. Mine vary, possibly because of diet. It's best to start on a low dose and work your way up slowly.

Yes I had shocking watery diarrhea on metformin too. I lasted 3 weeks or so before I couldn't handle it anymore and went off it.

I was on 2000 but couldn't handle it, lowered myself to 1000 which is ok most of the time.

I'm only on 500mg and have been taking it for 2 weeks ish but now all of the sudden it's started acting up and my body not handling it. Not good, I legit hate this, I would rather be throwing up

You can get extended release which is meant to make it less severe

I started metformin a few years ago and felt like I had gastro for days, I only made it a week and stopped taking them. Hopefully your symptoms settle with time

What time of the day are you taking it? I was sick on them when I first started them and ending up just taking at night once there was food in my belly and this helped. Now my body is used to them I can take in the morning.

I'm on 2000mg a day and can't remember my last solid poop! Lol! It gets worse if my diet has been bad, if I eat Ok it's not too bad. I take it at night right before bed, so it does its stuff through the night and I wake up, poop and then go on my way. Can't imagine taking it through the day.

i did find that when I was taking iron as well it kinda balanced out - the side effects balanced out and everything went slightly normal.
