I was 9. Growing up in a family with no money and spent 5 nights a week sitting in the pub with my sister, as my parents were pokie addicts. Pretty sad really....

I was 11 and in year 6. My best friends name was Laura. I was just your average kid really. Played sport (tennis, netball, touch football) and musical instrument (violin).

I was 10 and in year 5. I got my first best friend ever in that year. Before then I just sort of floated without being particularly close to anyone. Unfortunately because she was awesome everyone else wanted to be her best friend as well which cause lots of 10 year old angst.

I remember writing an awesome story in Year 5 about a toothpaste alien or something similar. I did a project on Vegemite, we wrote letters to the kids affected by the Port Arthur and we played Where in the World is Carmen santiago.

I am pretty sure I started playing netball that year!

I started watching rage and getting into music. Pretty sure Wannabe was this year.

i had a crush on a boy I had a crush on through my early primary school years.

Pretty sure there were quite a few slumber parties that year.

I vaguely remember watching the Atlanta Olympics.

Eta - pretty sure I started swearing like a rebel that year lol

I was 20, in my second year of uni. Had moved out of home the year prior with my boyfriend at the time and was basically the black sheep of the family so retreated back home when I saw the light.

Default Your life, 20 years ago (1996)?

I was in year 12. I LOVED year 12. I had my first serious boyfriend during that time, partied a lot, went and sang around Europe for 5 weeks, and generally loved life.

I remember listening to Blur, RHCP and Crowded House 'Best of' all the time. And AiC, Faith No More and Smashing Pumpkins. I'm pretty sure I discovered Bjork then too. I went to free concerts a lot.

I was Dux of Year 12 at my school. I remember we could go home after recess on Fridays. Life just felt free and happy and positive. It was a good balance of responsibility and freedom.

I also remember doing homework in my room on Sunday nights and listening to Creatures of the Spotlight on Triple J.

I was 19 and in the second year of my teaching degree.

I started going out with a guy I would stay with for 2 years.

I had a part time job at Pizza Hut.

I had completed my dance teachers exams in tap and modern and was still dancing about 5 hours a week.

Lots and lots of clubbing, pubs, pool playing, concerts and drinking.

Listened to nothing but triple j and had zero tolerance for commercial music!

I was in year 1. Didn't much like my teacher and I clearly remember my best friend stealing things. 😮 Lived in a different state. I spent all my pocket money on lollies at the local shop.
