I have read reviews changed my mind on things before. It is usually when the positives get lower than around 80%.

I wouldn't write it off based on two bad reviews, especially since it sounds like he's implemented changes to try to stop those things happening again. 95% is a pretty high success rate! I would go have a look and see for myself if it looks like the right fit for my dog and go from there

It completely depends on the context, the product, what the reviews said etc. I will definitely take reviews into account though.
The answer to a dog getting out from an open gate being 'we clearly state we don't accept runners' would concern me. And the fact that dogs have been mauled.
Its completely up to you of course, but I would consider their system too risky for my comfort level.
