Hi @Cassie M, I'm also popping over from the Greece thread, and am seeing Dr L too. It sounds like you have also seen Dr M, how did Dr L go with that? I've just made a phone appt with Dr M but am not yet sure how to combine his advice with Dr L's (I don't know my donor protocol yet with Dr L as will get in Jan, but I'm guessing Dr L's might vary from what Dr M will say...). All the best for your prep for your SA trip xx

Default Egg Donation in South Africa #14

    Hi everyone,

I gave myself the one-off depot injection today (Dipthereline /Triptorelin).

For someone who is usually pretty organised I could kick myself for not doing more research on it first - I assumed there would be a 'how to' video guide on YouTube like all the other IVF drugs, but no, there is not.. Eek!
Anyway I fumbled through it - found one in another language which was average quality but adequate. The hardest thing was knowing if I was injecting the right place in my bum!

So, for the girls who decide to go with the depot injection, I would probably recommend popping down to your local GP and leaving it to the professionals

    Hope everyone is doing well

Re combining Dr LeR (Cape Town) and Dr M (Sydney) - I used both and the 2 protocols were quite separate. Dr LeR told me he didn't mind what I did in that area as he really doesn't believe in Immune issues. I saw Dr M for about 6 months prior to going to CT and did things like steroids, intralipids and some other meds. I used both DE and DS so Alpha matches were not part of my regime.

I suppose what I am saying is DR LeR and Dr M are both happy with you following their 2 protocols and they really don't overlap at all (at least not for me and I haven't heard of anyone having an issue).

Good Luck and BTW - both these doctors are heroes in my book. Dr M - so quiet and gentle and Dr LeR while not much louder than Dr M, is just lovely and I will never forget either man.

    Minniemin,

oh you courageous lady giving yourself that one off in the buttock, with help from you tube in a different language eeek!

Hun if you need advice I'm your resident Registered Nurse. I have the knowledge on all things injectable. Lol. You only need ask.

    Hi cassie and Cathy 69.

Im currently cycling with my own eggs and low Amh. So we will see what comes of it. Then think about SA. We are actually going to try to access our super to get there.

Is is there a possibility of using leftover embies in SA? Does this happen?

And and how many will they let you put back?

Hi @MysticFalls, an RN - where were you yesterday when I was trying to aim that massive needle into my butt without hitting a nerve!!
Seriously though, I'm pretty sure I did it in the right place but how would I know if it went into the actual muscle? The needle was on a bit of an angle.. am I overthinking it all??

In regards to leftover embies, do you mean leftover if you have a failed donor egg cycle? If so, yes, when you're there your partner (if you have one) can leave a sample which can be frozen for use if you need to return.
From what I have read, most people transfer one or two.

Minniemin, just wondering if you've heard about your Superannuation application yet? Hope it's been good news for you.
