    Hi Ladies

I've been reading through the thread for a few days, and let me say it certainly is comforting to someone to see that they aren't alone in this kind of journey. So I thought I'd share my journey so far.

I and my hubby were trying for 9yrs. We went to our first FS at 4yrs to which he was very nonchalant and uncaring, and basically discarded us as being too young (we were in our mid twenties at the time) So we were disheartened and left thinking that it was all to do with our age. Another 3yrs of trying and still nothing so we go to a different FS to which we find out that hubby has low sperm count and very few good swimmers so we would need something called ICSI, something we couldn't afford. Again we were disheartened and actually thought that having a baby together was simply never going to happen (I have a daughter to a previous relationship) Then it comes to this year and during some medical issue I was seeing my new, and wonderful, GP about I mentioned about how we had wanted another child but it wasn't possible. My GP tells me about Primary IVF. I cannot tell you how excited I was to hear that one had opened up only a few months prior in Oxley. I had never even heard of them until my GP told me about them. So hubby and i decide to give them a go.
I had my first appointment in March with DR Rachel. She was lovely. We had entered so nervous and uncertain. She made us feel at ease, welcomed, and calm. She asked us many questions and took down everything important. Then told us the blood tests I'd need, which had to be done on certain days of my periods, pap smear, and an u/sound I'd need. She also told us of the blood tests hubby would need, and that he would have to give a sample. She wanted everything as a fresh start. She also told us of all and any out of pocket expenses that wouldn't be covered by the bulk billing so were would never get a surprise. We left feeling like this time we were actually being listened to, and that our Dr actually cared.
After the first round of tests had been done we returned for our second visit with Dr Rachel, to which we received all the results. Turned out in the last year+ that my hubby's sperm had reached normal amount and he had in fact now plenty of great swimmers. (Better eating and going to the gym it seemed helped him as that's all he had changed since neither of us were ever overweight). We were then referred to the FS.
We had our visit with the FS in April, in which he went over everything with us and told us that after an appointment with the IVF Nurse we would start our first cycle.
I saw the nurse in May just before my periods were due to start (lucky timing there) and she was so lovely and welcoming, and very understanding of my fear of needles. She made me feel assured that I could do the injections despite that fear, and that everything would be alright. I truly felt like everyone at Primary IVF cared about us, which was a very welcomed change to the other two FS we had seen in previous years.
I started the injections (and now the second one too ouch). And despite my fear of needles I am getting through it, because I know the end result will be very much worth it. They do sting a little (for me anyway) but it's nothing more then the feeling of a slight prick/sting and that's it. Our fingers are crossed.

Reading all the different experiences on here has really helped me not feel so alone, and you truly can find yourself feeling that way on this journey. It is so lovely that there is a forum like this where ladies like us, going through this, can find that we aren't alone, that there are others going through this too. And that we can talk and ask questions without feeling like we're silly haha

If they ask for more recent results do they do testing on the day? Or would I need to make another app? Not even sure what to expect with first visit.
    Hi Meelou
I am going through Primary IVF at Oxley currently. With me Dr Rachel decided to get all new bloods done. But they have a QML room specifically for Primary IVF right below their office. As with pap smear, usually if you've had one in the last year they won't do another. Blood tests are often needed on certain days of your periods, as well as an ultrasound, so usually you book another appointment after you've had all that done~ If you have any questions about the office there, feel free to ask. So far I have found everyone very warm and friendly

It was great to read your story so far! Also lovely to know that you have great feedback from your visits at oxley. When you went for your first visit and had testing done, what are your needles for? Do they recommend something like Clomid as an option to try fall pregnant first? I'm a newbie to all of this. So is my partner. I've just finished AF a few days ago, my cycles are super long due to PCOS I might have to wait a while for testing if it's on certain days haha

Hi all, just poking my head in here. We have our first appt with Primary Melbourne on the 30th June. Seeing a private FS on the 15th simply to see what both have to say but hoping we will be able to go with Primary as we just can't afford to do this privately. Hoping to avoid IVF but DH has low motility and low forward facing swimmers so just not too sure how we'll go. Good luck to everyone, I hope this is a quick process for you all to get your beautiful babies!

First visit they required blood tests to check everything from making sure we had no std's to chromosomal, as Dr Rachel wanted to check everything. For us we weren't told to try anything like Clomid (never knew that was a thing haha) or anything, we were referred straight to ivf. We seem to suffer what they simply call 'unknown infertility issues'. For some reason we just can't seem to fall pregnant naturally, and believe me we've tried everything
Don't feel too overwhelmed being your first visit, the Dr will explain everything to you and make sure you understand it, and they answer all your questions. I know it can be nerve wrecking, but rest assured they will take care of you (that's been my experience thus far~)

Hi ladies, I am so happy to have stumbled across this thread! Hubby and I have our first appointment at primary Oxley in June, I was wondering if any of you know if they insist on me having an HSG before they will proceed to further treatments? I have had every other test in the last 3 months with my current FS, as has hubby, but the HSG was just a bit too expensive for us while doing iui cycles as well. If they do require an HSG, do they have a less expensive way of doing it?
My FS recommended primary to me as his fee for ivf is way out of the realm of possibility for us and he genuinely believes after everything ivf is the only way for us.
    Thanks ladies!
